Recently I took a stroll through the Shell banks of Uddevalla (the world’s largest!). The banks were formed at the end of the last Ice Age. This unique area with hills of shell grit is an oasis of flowers, butterflies and insects.

The blue door leads into the Shell bank museum. The exhibition shows the banks emergence, and gives a glimpse of life at this spot some 10 000 years ago. The museum is only open in the summer, but you are always welcome to walk around in the banks.
